Royana presents a renewed residential narrative in Shanghai, conceived by Ju Bin as a complete architectural residence where bespoke systems articulate a balanced dialogue between Western modernism and Eastern culture.
The space functions as a prototype of contemporary living, where spatial order, material discipline, and manufacturing precision converge to define a new standard for high-end residential systems.
The project is characterized by architectural clarity and material restraint. An ethereal façade of glass and light establishes a calm and composed relationship with the urban context, while introducing an interior defined by proportion, rhythm, and structural consistency. Rather than pursuing decorative effect, the design emphasizes permanence, coherence, and the intrinsic quality of space.
Spanning 500 square meters across two levels, the residence unfolds as an integrated sequence of living environments. On the ground floor, the social areas are structured by the Lille Light Walnut system, whose warm and continuous surfaces provide an architectural framework for curated furnishings such as the Cassina Utrecht XL Royana Special Edition and the technical illumination of Flos Noctambule. In the kitchen, the engineering precision of the Gaggenau 400 series is embedded within Linzhi Oak system, establishing a balance between industrial performance and natural material quality.
The upper level is dedicated to private living. Here, the IKONA Ebony system, applied in both high-gloss and matte finishes, defines the architectural skin of the bedrooms and auxiliary spaces. Its depth and material consistency shape a composed atmosphere, where furniture pieces including the Cassina Cab Night and Glas Italia elements are integrated as part of the architectural language rather than decorative accents. From the tea room to the fitness area equipped with Technogym Personal and Dior collaborations, the spatial sequence is organized through pivot door systems, ensuring continuity and formal discipline throughout.
With this installation, Royana expresses its vision of contemporary interior architecture: a transition from furniture-based composition to system-driven living. The residence demonstrates how bespoke architectural systems can structure space, regulate experience, and support a refined domestic lifestyle defined by clarity, balance, and enduring quality.
